chow chow

The Chow Chow is a medium sized Arctic type dog originating from an ancient breed in Northern China. Chow Chows are very muscular with heavy bones and was commonly used as a working dog. This lion-like canine usually appears in several colors - blue, black, red, cream, and cinnamon. The Chow Chow also has a unique blue/black tongue.

Sculpture and Pottery of the early Chinese Han Dynasts (206 B.C. - 22 A.D.) frequently depicted images of the Chow Chow. This all-purpose dog was used for herding, protection, and hunting campaigns.
