The Doberman Pinscher is a very muscular dog breed with great speed and endurance. This medium stature dog has an elegant look and reflects great nobility. The Doberman Pinscher can be a great companion and protector if properly trained. Due to the intelligence levels of the Doberman Pinscher, they have been popularly used as police and war dogs. Dobermans commonly have short, hard coats and are commonly colored red, black, fawn and blue.

The Doberman Pinscher is thought to have originated in the 1900s around Germany where its name was taken by a tax collector Louis Dobermann who wanted a dog that could be a great guardian and companion.
