| | RESCUE CLOSING TX adoption fee waived for all dogs
Some dreadful news for the DFW rescue community - Pound Pals is officially joining the long list of rescues shutting down. They have 70 dogs in their system currently .... and the dogs have until October 31 to get out safely. Pound Pals has developed a reputation for taking in dogs off of DFW shelter lists that even other rescues didn't want, always helping the unwanted and left behind. Now we need to help them! The founder and lifeblood of the organization said that in addition to the waning donations and adoptions that all rescues are experiencing right now, she is going through a divorce, losing her home (and land where the dogs are housed) and has been in the hospital with heart problems. She is not choosing this, it has been forced on her by tough circumstances, and there are no back-up options available to the dogs in this program. Dogs left with no place to go on the 31st will go back into shelters - and their odds of getting out again are certainly not high. The dogs have all been vetted and now they are in need of homes. Adoption fees are being waived for the public. To inquire about adoption, email Kerri at pound_pals@yahoo.com August Dog Rescue (http://www.augustdogrescue.org ) will take dogs into our program for whom fosters can be found. To inquire about or volunteer to foster, please email Kate at katemwatts@gmail.com Dogs needing help: http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/TX1347.html
Special Plea from Nancy Jackson from Midcities Humane Society: I'd like to make a special plea for Cooper and beg for a foster to come out of the woodwork for him! I transported this boy for Pound Pals the day after Christmas last year, and his foster mom hemmed-and-hawed and never took any pictures or did any work to get him adopted for nearly a year, and now she has left the program and he has no where to go. I just found out about this on Monday and am distraught! He is an amazing Boxter / Pit mix with whom anyone would fall immediately in love. He is loving and smart and will play fetch and take walks. I picked him up just covered in sarcoptic mange; he spent the day at my vet and we went to the park before driving outside of town to take him to Pound Pals. My heart is breaking for Cooper - but I have no where to put him. Do you? Cooper's petfinder ad: http://www.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=14376989

My favorite is this Australian Shepherd beauty with no name. She came from the Arlington Animal Shelter & was on the euthanasia list simply because the shelter was full and had no room for her. Her is her petfinder ad: http://www.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=14691587

| | RE: RESCUE CLOSING TX adoption fee waived for all dogs I already have so many I wish I could take Cooper home. He has won and broken my heart all at the same time I hope he goes to a loving home where he has lots of room to run and get his energy out! Please keep me up to date. If he doesn't have a home soon I might get my stepsister to go get him | |

| | RE: RESCUE CLOSING TX adoption fee waived for all dogs Where I live in Oromocto Canada we have foster families who take in pets until there is room in the S.P.C.A. Also all the surrounding S.P.C.A's rotate pets if they have been in one shelter for too long. And our S.P.C.A works with one of our pet stores in town, they take in our foster kittens to sell. Who knows, your pet stores may take in dogs. | |
