| | Puppy digs and chews How do I stop my puppy, who is about 6-7 months old, from digging into my walls and carpet and chewing on the window sills, baseboards, chair legs, etc. I give her plenty of chew toys which she also chews so that is not the solution. She is part dachshund and beagle and very stubborn. Someone help me. | |

| | RE: Puppy digs and chews well she has beagle in her so the digging you have to work on that with her. teach her that digging is not for the house. you have to create more energy it seems she is getting the best of you. you have to be stern with your commands. work on one problem at at a time and use one word commands...NO . etc.. they make sprays called no chew ..dont forget she is still a puppy..and at her most worst part as far as teething..6 months..so you have to take that into consideration. she is not developed into a fully grown dog yet so time is what is needed to work with her ..make sure you use strong verbal commands on every thing you need her to do..like sit stay heal..she has to be taught these basic commands first. if she dont know them start out with the basics..sit, stay, heal, come. work with her on these..make sure she knows them. once she knows these commands then you can train more on your probelms..make sure you praise everytime she listens,,treat her everytime with a small piece of doggie cracker or something she likes.. good luck.. | |

| | RE: Puppy digs and chews The bitter apple spray works on furniture wood areas.but repeated sprays maybe nessasary my dog chews everything he turned one in Aug.It seam to be getting better but lots of toys and rawhide bones as big as he can lift the seem to last a bit longer I think they have to out grow it. you can try the leave it comand walk them on a lesh don't stop if they stop to get into something, tell them to {leave it} and keep walking pull them away from what they want give a small treat if they walk away on their on. | |
