The large Great Dane is a majestic dog breed referred to as the "king of dogs". This gentle dog is very friendly, energetic, and strong with a loving personality. The Great Dane has become a very popular family pet and its coat color can be many colors including; black, blue, fawn, brindle, and others.
Drawings of the Great Dane were said to have been found on Egyptian monuments as early as 3000 BC and writings were found in Chinese literature around 1100 BC. The Great Dane that we know of today is a mix between the Old English Mastiff and the Irish Wolfhound. Great Danes were bred to hunt dangerous wild boars and later to guard estates of wealthy nobles.
