The Maltese is a gentle and affectionate dog covered from head to toe with long, silky white hair. The Maltese is known for being very playful, and fearless despite its small stature. If the Maltese is rewarded for good behavior, they can be extremely fast learners. The Maltese dog has quickly become a very popular companion dog because of their size and refined nature.
"Ye Ancient Dogge of Malta" was once how the Maltese was known and recognized. Known as an aristocrat of the canine world for centuries, the Maltese has been owned by royalty all over the world. Back in the 1500's, the Maltese has been sold for as much as $2,000 each.
