9/3/2017 : Hoppy Labor Day!

Hi my friends, I have alot to catch up on since my pawrents got back from vacation. They had a good time camping at the beach for 2 weeks, Mable and Bumble (the dogs) went with them and also Rubin and Kazoo (guinea pigs). The rest of us (me, Chad & Tate (cats) and Russell and Allan (guinea pigs) stayed home and moms friend stayed here at the house and took real good care of us. She spoiled all of us and we got extra food since we were such good furkids to take care of. The babysitter fell in love with me of course..teeheee! She kept texting mom and sending her photos of me and how cute I was being. She told my mom that she was gonna steal me! But Iz still here, mom would miss me so much if I wasnt here. So they had a good time on vacation, they have a huge camper that has all the bells and whistles so its not like real tent camping. It has 2 king beds, bathroom, shower, central air, full kitchen and dinette. I told mom that they need an even bigger camper for next year so we can all go with them! The first week there camping Rubin started with a cold and mom took him to a guinea pig specialist vet that she found up there and was able to get him on medicine and get him better. We were thankful that their was a vet so close that specialized in piggles. So Rubin is better and back to being a happy and healthy piggle. Then toward the end of the vacation, Mable got very sick, so they rushed her to the same vet hospital and they admitted her and kept her for 2 1/2 days and treated her with iv fluids, pain meds, antibiotics and did every test and xray possible to figure out why she is so sick. If she didnt improve in 24 hrs they said we should put her down due to her bloodwork levels, there was something definately wrong with her, she was flat out acting like she was dying. The vet said she had some kind of baterial infection in her liver which is never good. But luckily by the end of the first night she showed improvement and the hospital let mom and dad come and visit her before Mable went to bed there which helped mom so much, she was freaking out and so worried. BUt seeing her feel better gave mom hope and comforted her enough so that she was able to sleep that night. Then the second day Mable was even better, mom and dad were able to visit twice with her that day and she was doing so much better that they said she could go home with us the next day after supper. So mom and dad went and bought a huge platter of gourmet cuppycakes and chocolate covered strawberries and had it wrapped pretty and then got a card and wrote a heartfelt thank you to all the staff and vets that helped get Mable better (and Rubin too) and mom also put in a couple photos of Mable and Rubin for them to remember them by. The staff was so happy and grateful for the gift and they said that they would miss Mable but glad she is better. The dr did say that when we get her back home to our vet to have an ultrasound done. So as soon as we got home and unpacked the camper and got things back to normal we made an appointment with the ultrasound vet and had it done on Friday. The vet let mom stay with Mable while the ultrasound was done and mom was able to see all the problems that Mable has:( We thought she was gonna be all set because she was feeling better but the vet found alot of gall bladder stones in her urine, tons of cysts on her shriveled kidneys (she has had bad kidneys since she was 2 yrs old so we knew her kidneys were shriveled) and they also found a mass on her right kidney, lymphoma, her lymph nodes are all swollen, the vet let mom feel them and they were very big. So not the good news we wanted but the vet was awesome and she said that the prognosis for Mable is not good and surgery is not reccommended for her and that all we can do is keep her on these new meds to keep her comfy as long as we can. So far, she continues to do really well and doesnt act sick or in pain at all. So mom is doing what the other vet said to do and the new instructions from the ultrasound vet. Mom called and told the other vet the results and also sent them the info from the other vet to them so they could read the report themselves. So we will do what we can for her and keep her comfy and loved till its time for her to go to rainbow bridge. I am always laying next to her wherever she is, she even lets me nibble on her toesies. Me and her have a special bond and we get along so good together, she even lets me hop on her back...tehee! I just wanted to update you all, I know I havent been on her much but mom kinda has her paws full right now, along with still caring for her mom who has end stage alheizhermers plus trying to work 50 hrs a week, so we dont have much time for the puter. Hope everyone is safe, so sad and scary about Texas, how devastating and extremly sad. Our hearts break for everyone that is affected by Storm Harvey, especially the poor animals.....be safe my friends!! Bunny hugs to all, Love, Mr Peeps

Sending prayers for Mable. Mom use to go camping but she slept on the ground in a tent. And cooked outside. But that was many years ago. She can't get on the floor now.

and Daisy: Hi Mr. Peeps, it's so good to hear from you again, and we're very happy that Rubin is okay, thanks to that vet. We are sorry to hear about Mable, but we know your folks will do right by her, and not let her suffer. They will know when it's time for her to go to the bridge, and meanwhile, they will surely keep her safe and comfortable. It's so sweet that you were all so well cared for while your folks were camping in luxury. Haha, mom said she wouldn't mind camping if it were like that! She'd never sleep on the ground!
Your sitter sounds like she did a great job with all of you, and spoiled you the way you deserve. It's so sweet that you and Mable are good friends too, and you can comfort her.
We are sorry about your grandma with the end stage Alzheimer disease, that's so hard on families!
We are with you in spirit, sweetie, and will send good thoughts your way. Hugs
