2/28/2009 : Scout
A little background info on Scout.He is a 3 yr old neutered
male schnauzer who was rescued from a local shelter.
We believe he came from a puppymill raid that they had so that might explain some of his very odd behaviour.
He is a special needs rescue as we have found out after many
strange episodes and behaviours that Scout has neuro distemper.It is not curable or treatable at his stage as he has myoclonus which is constant muscle tremors and has complex partial focal seizures.
He is partialy blind and is often out in his own little world and we never know when he will have partial paralysis.
He has learned alot and has become a local star in our area as we try to take him everywhere.
He had to learn to eat and is just learning how to eat treats and has learned to play with some toys.
He gets along well with everyone including animals and just loves his babies..the many cats we have.
He never meets a stranger and loves to go in the car and go for walks but we must be careful as I might need to carry him home!
We are hoping that he can go back to doggie daycare with playtime as he has been there last year a few times and loves everyone there.Everytime he went he made new friends!
He still gets excited when we go that way as he thinks that he will be dropped off to play!
He will be going there to have a schnauzer trim/cut which will be the 1st total makeover!He has had baths and light trim but not the works.

Hi,
What a wonderfull little dog and you are a special person to take in a special needs dog. I too am an animal lover. I have had two mini sch. in the past and what smart and loving little dogs. I now have a Giant Schnauzer, Harley if four years old and I am training for Obedience competition. I hope little Scout has a wonderful life with you and it sounds like he is enjoying himself so much. Take care and happy tails.
