10/26/2009 : The Big Black Dog Syndrome
My owner, Carol, and I wrote and recently published our new book called "BANDIT Big Black Dog Who Stole My Heart" and although it's an entertaining book about our first year together, it offers a much deeper message about The Big Black Dog Syndrome. If you don't know about that phenomenon (that's what they call it) you can search it through any search engine to find out more. In a nutshell, it's that Big Black Dogs of all breeds are not being adopted in shelters nationwide. For many reasons (such as they're too big, too hard to handle, scary or intimidating, not as pretty as a lighter colored animal, and even that they can't be photographed very well, and therefore, not marketable), these Big Black Dogs are overlooked, neglected, and consequently, face life behind bars in cages or no life at all. I'm the Ambassador for Big Black Dogs, and I write in every chapter of the book. We hope to spread the word and overcome the misconceptions that my Big Black Dog brothers and sisters carry with them in shelters. Through research, we find that the syndrome even includes smaller breeds, and black cats. So, won't you help spread the word about this syndrome, and consider the adoption and rescue of a black dog or cat through your local shelter? You can visit me at my site called banditbigblackdog and learn more! Bye for now, Bandit

We've heard of the syndrome and one only needs to look at the dogs available on on line Humane Society sites to see the huge percentage of Big Black Dogs. So good of you to and Bandit to promote awareness and rescue. Jarmy and his Mom
