The Shih Tzu is known for its double coat of flowing hair and a playful and sweet personality. An extremely popular dog according to recent statistics, the word Shih Tzu translates to "lion". Shih Tzu's can be found in various colors and have been cherished by the upper class of China for thousands of years where they've been valued as dear pets. The Shih Tzu was descended by crossing the Pekingese with a Lhasa Apso or Tibetan mountain dog. Originally a house pet of the Ming Dynasty, the Shih Tzu was discovered in England during World War II by soldiers
