yorkshire terrier

Commonly referred to as "Yorkies", the Yorkshire Terrier has a large and outgoing personality considering its small size and build. Although Yorkshire Terrier's are considered to be part of the Toy Group, they are actually Terriers and known to be energetic, focused, and brave. Most can be found with blue and tan coats, and the Yorkshire Terrier is easily one of the most popular canines according to registration statistics.

The Yorkshire Terrier was named for the city in which it was originally found, and was originally used in the early nineteenth century as a rat catcher. Despite their regal look, they were first popular among the people of the working class but eventually became favored by European High Society.
